Notices from NCN Providers in 2020

Dec. 14, 2020

CNMR - Saipan, US

They are still undergoing repairs and recovery from the two hurricanes that hit a couple months ago...it seems that the power is coming on for a time and then going out. It will probably be like this for a little while longer. I will contact the parish maintenance department to see if they can give an ETA on when the outages will stop, but I don't think they have any control over the power company.
Larry Dunaway

STKR - Stocker, OH

FYI, the Ohio University campus is undergoing campus wide electrical outages this weekend (the 13th) and next (the 19th). I will be taking the STKR CORS receiver down from Saturday evening until Monday morning on the first weekend, and Friday evening to Sunday or Monday the second weekend.
Paul Nilles

MTPJ - Pendroy, MT

I got a person available today and he is going to head up the MTPJ to check the station out. We hope it is just a tripped breaker from a major storm that happened around the time the receiver stop working, Nov 06.

Bill

DP3A - Naperville, IL

Dec. 11, 2020

The Naperville (DP3A) station is being extra picky this morning and isn’t connecting. I’ll keep trying during the day and will also reach out to the site and try to get this resolved.

The building where the equipment is installed currently has no power. They are working to replace a large, main breaker that controls the whole building but could not tell me when that would happen. Hopefully, this week.

Hatanaka compression changing

Dec. 1, 2020

Beginning Tuesday December 15th, 2020 the CORS Data will no longer use the Unix compression (.Z or .z) for its Hatanaka data (d.Z). Instead, ALL compress data will be in GNU zip (.gz) format as has been the case for its ASCII Rinex data.

Michigan DOT

Dec. 1, 2020

I wanted to inform you there are several sites we are having issues with. We are currently repairing a receiver from MILI Livonia, replacing a network card to see if this solves issues we are having. If this solution fixes that receiver there may be several other we will be doing the same thing with (see below list). I will let you know as these other sites will be down.

Harry Nelson - MaineDOT Property Office

CAMR - Cameron, LA

Sept. 2, 2020

I just spoke to my contact at Cameron Parish and the courthouse sustained considerable water damage to the lower floors and power will take weeks or months to restore. So for now, CAMR will be on hold until cleanup and restorations are completed and power restored, which will be a while. I am not sure if antenna or mount was damaged, but I will try to assess when they start letting people back into the area in the coming weeks.
Larry Dunaway

June 24, 2020

NYDOT had major issues with their data. It MAY be possible to piece together some data.

AZFL - Flagstaff, AZ

June 23, 2020

It looks like AZFL antenna is having issues. Unit is working but not tracking satellites. With it being on a university campus and with all that's going on I'm not sure when I would have an opportunity to do a site visit. I'm hoping there is staff still on campus.

NYDOT

June 18, 2020

An operating system update Wednesday evening broke our writing of files to ngs.dot.ny.gov, where you are getting files from us. Our IT dept. isn't scheduled to fix this until next week as it affects other systems. Would that cause issue there with NGS processes? Our data is still available on our website for users, and we have the original data. Trying to weigh our response to our IT Dept.
Thanks, Steve Roden

Since last may 29th the station TAMP stopped because network communication and control unit failed. Due to the health contingency of COVID-19, the staff will not have access to the station. The data is being recorded on the receiver, we hope to be able to attend to the station when the staff has access to the station again. We are still at home working.
Best regards, Jose Guillermo Gasca Moncayo

PARY Internet connection went down last Sunday. Bell Canada is investigating. I am expecting just the modem is hung up and that the receiver is still logging data. It may take a few days if Bell is unable to reboot the modem remotely and has to make a site visit. Take care,

PADOT

Apr 23, 2020

Dear Friends,
I wish to notify you that the PAAP CORS station building will be torn down beginning in May, 2020. I would recommend that we consider having this station removed from the building; antenna, mounting, cables, and all hardware; by the beginning of April, 2020. I have cc'ed Mr. Lou Lane, facilities manager for Physics / Astronomy / Geology and Environmental Science, and Mr. Roy Charlton; facilities management, responsible for the LRDC building where the CORS site has been located for these many years; on this email. My sincere thanks for these many years of association with the CORS program. It has been an honor and privilege to work with you on this critical activity.
Sincerely,
Bill Harbert

KARA Company, CCMK

Mar 30, 2020

We realized that Kara network has been completely down since 2020-073, March 13.
Station CCMK has been down since 2020-056. As this has been down for more than 30 days, we will place CCMK on non-operational status until data flow resumes.
We understand that access may be restricted or down. Please follow your local guidelines and do not make extraordinary efforts - we acknowledge that stations may be down for a period of time under the circumstances.
My best to you and yours,
Fran - NGS

JPLM - Pasadena, CA

NGS:
We are reporting that NGS CORS, PAMS and YORK are down due to temporary facility closures during the pandemic. PennDOT is officially assigned to Telework statewide. We will check on these sites and power them back on, when we are able to conduct field activities. I suspect the GPS Receivers are running, but the computers are offline.
All other sites are operational at this time.
Regards, Stephen M. Moore, PLS

NEBB - Broken Bow, NE

Feb 27, 2020

We need to have CORS NEBB taken offline at this time, antenna has been moved due to construction at location. We will submit proposed CORS information at a later date.
Scott Haynes - NDOT

We shall decommission NEBB from the CORS network.

NEW Puerto Rico Coordinates

Jan 23, 2020

Some of the Puerto Rican stations have new coords. For example
https://geodesy.noaa.gov/cgi-cors/CorsSidebarSelect.prl?site=p780
https://geodesy.noaa.gov/cgi-cors/CorsSidebarSelect.prl?site=prgy
https://geodesy.noaa.gov/cgi-cors/CorsSidebarSelect.prl?site=prjc
https://geodesy.noaa.gov/cgi-cors/CorsSidebarSelect.prl?site=prmi
and perhaps others as we get more data.

WVTA and WVSH

Jan 23, 2020

No changes to report at the current time. I think the reason it's been up and down so much lately has to do with the internet service in that area. As soon as we figure out the exact problem I'll let you know, but hopefully it will be more stable going forward.
Thanks, James Underwood

DP3A - Naperville, IL

Jan 22, 2020

I ended up taking the unit with me Jan 7th. There seems to be an issue with the license keys somehow. I have reached out to Leica and hope to have a resolution shortly. Once I have the licensing sorted out I will reinstall the unit.
Thank you, Jon Pesek, GNSS Network Manager, Kara Company Inc.

ALDOT - Florida Panhandle sites

Jan 13, 2020

Good morning!
For those of you in the panhandle of Florida,
ALDOT (Alabama Department of Transportation) will be upgrading software and will have their sites off line in the afternoons of today and tomorrow.(Monday 13th, and Tuesday 14th) This will affect those of you who work in the panhandle along the border of the state.
This should allow you to get work done on both days but be ready for the outages over the next two days in the afternoons.
Again for the FLORIDA PANHANDLE only, you may experience network issues if you are working along the state borderline during the afternoon today and tomorrow (1/13 & 1/14)
R. Wade Seymore - ALDOT
